Artist’s Block

“Artist’s block? Just give it time to melt!”

When you’ve wrecked your brain for every little incy wincy piece of creativity and you find nothing but a solid block ..

And no matter what you use to draw .. may it be a pen, pencil, crayon, marker, highlighter, whatever you can find! ..

The block is an ice block ..

You simply can’t make even a single dot on it ..

Yup .. That’s me! I’ve reached artist’s block (sigh)

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn something that I’m actually satisfied with ..

To my surprise, the artist’s block image gave me ideas, inspiration 🙂

So let it melt fellow artists!

Just a little more time 🙂

Taiwan Lantern Festival

“On the fifteenth day of the new lunar year, we celebrate.”

lantern festivalsheep1

The Lantern Festival in Taiwan is one of the most important festivals in Taiwan.

This festival is celebrated by making lanterns, playing lantern riddle games, and having displays of shiny, decorative lanterns.

On this day, people would eat “tangyuan” (湯圓), which are glutinous rice dumplings with either sweet or savory fillings.

Tanyuan comes in different flavours such as sesame, peanuts, red beans and even minced pork.

However, the most original one and also my favourite ones are the ones with no fillings at all and they come in either pink or white.

Since 1990, Taiwan has held annual lantern festival events all over Taiwan, providing local people with the most beautiful, creative and cultural decorative lantern displays.

This year it’s the sheep/goat year, so there are many lantern displays with the animal sheep.

Where is my umbrella?

“What happened to my dearest umbrella?”

After a nice filling dinner and a wonderful chat with friends, I walked out into the rain,

kneeling down to get my umbrella by the door.

To my surprise, it was gone! 😦

What do you think happened to it?

Picture to words .. Tell my story!

It’s already March!!!

“The bad news is time flies.

The good news is you’re the pilot.”

-Michael Altshuler

Back in February, I was probably the most happiest chap ever lol

There were so many holidays .. Chinese New Year and then 228 (Peace Memorial Day) ..

And then when I realized the holiday was over and I did no work at all !

I felt pretty screwed …

And now it’s March already ..

This is me when I think about the unfinished first 3 chapters of my thesis that needs to be at least 50 pages ..

I literally just want to lie on the floor and have the ability to write 50 pages by just thinking of it in my head ..

And then when I think of everything else I want to finish within this month ..

I just end up rolling back and forth on the floor lol

National Lantern Day in Taiwan

“And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you.”

Every year on Taiwan’s National Lantern Day a big event will be held at Pingxi Junior High School where they light up 200 lanterns at once.

Even though it’s a yearly event, it is always packed with people.

People write their wishes on the lantern, light it up and let it float into the sky, hoping that their wishes will come true.

It’s my first time at this event, and, to be honest, it is a very beautiful sight.

Although I wouldn’t do it again lol because there were so many people at the event that it took me 3 hours to get home.

What a mission!

Now I know how Rapunzel feels about seeing the floating lights 😉

Happy and Sad

“The word ‘happiness’ would lose its meaning if it weren’t balanced by sadness.”

Being a Katy Perry fan has made me so excited to go to her concert ..

Sadly, I didn’t get a single ticket to her concert 😦

When it comes to Katy Perry, I get really sad ..

How people see me:

How I really am:

And then I got some good news on drawing from Memobook!!!!

iPhone Cover

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

-Steve Jobs

I’ve always loved the rectangular-shaped iPhone

Good thing there are so many nice iPhone cover designs 🙂

This iPhone cover belongs to a friend of mine..

I wanted to draw it the minute I laid eyes on it lol

I’ve always loved watching the blue sky with the floating white clouds (which is why blue is my favourite colour) ..

Even though the blue sky ain’t much to look at, it sucks me in and I can just dive into it for hours and feel relaxed and at peace ..

That’s one of the reasons why I like this cover so much 🙂

The picture also seems mysterious, yet gives you the feeling that one has to climb even higher up to turn the already so calm-looking blue sky to an even relaxed one by adding floating white clouds ..

One always has to work harder and climb higher to be able to reach its destination where the view is always better 🙂

P.S. Can’t wait for my iPhone 6 !!!! 😀

Little Aunt’s Birthday

“May your birthday bring you as much happiness as you give to everyone who knows you.”

My beautiful little aunt is always happy 🙂

She’s my role model, my inspiration ..

There’s not a time I know when she’ll give up .. she’s always ready to get back onto her feet ..

She is forever encouraging me, giving me so much confidence, always having my back and supporting me ..

I couldn’t have asked for a better woman to be my aunt and mother in Taiwan.

Love you forever more little aunt ❤

Beginning of A New Year

“A new year is on its way and the possibilities are endless.”

new year

The new year welcomed us with a warm sunny day today 🙂

It feels like it should be a great start, but I’m getting butterflies in my stomach ..

This year feels like there’s going to be an endless journey filled with difficulties to overcome and habits to let go ..

Even though this is part of life and something we’ve got to go through in order to grow and mature ..

But .. am I really ready for it?

Whatever, give me all you’ve got 2015 ..

I’ll just try catch everything you throw at me :/
