National Lantern Day in Taiwan

“And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you.”

Every year on Taiwan’s National Lantern Day a big event will be held at Pingxi Junior High School where they light up 200 lanterns at once.

Even though it’s a yearly event, it is always packed with people.

People write their wishes on the lantern, light it up and let it float into the sky, hoping that their wishes will come true.

It’s my first time at this event, and, to be honest, it is a very beautiful sight.

Although I wouldn’t do it again lol because there were so many people at the event that it took me 3 hours to get home.

What a mission!

Now I know how Rapunzel feels about seeing the floating lights 😉
